The initiative of the “transantiago” plan pretended to improve the transportation in Santiago city. The idea was created an organized and modern system with defined schedules and routes. This was going to replace the all yellow buses, the tickets, the “sapos” and the way to pay. Although not all that glitters is gold…
The transantiago’s buses were design to keep more people inside, inclusive disabled people. This was a big problem in the old transporting system. Also, the transantiago’s drivers don´t have to manipulate money, so they are more safe because they were victims of attacks and robs.
On the other hand, I think that the routes don´t satisfy the people’s needs, because most people have to travel in 2 or more buses or others types of transportation to mobilize. Also, the schedules are useless because they don´t function well. The frequency of buses in the streets don´t satisfies the demand in peak hours.
My experience when transantiago started, it wasn´t special, because I had arrived recently to town, so I tried not to get out much. Later I started to suffer the recurrent pushes between people and the permanent dislike because the squeeze of crowd.
Maybe these problems would be fixed if the government put more buses and new routes in the plan. Also I think that it is so important to change our mind about the “terrible transporting system” and try to keep it the best way has possible.
